Purpose
  • Enhancing research networks among APEC scientists and strengthening the capabilities of trainees through field-specific expert capacity building programs.
Program Overview
  • The program aims to strengthen the competencies of trainees in the relevant field and expand international research networks through a variety of lectures and mentor-mentee projects.
Field Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science and Life Science
Eligibility Ph.D. or Master’s degree holders (with at least 3 years of research experience)
Official Language English (Interpretation services will not be provided)

Note: The program will be conducted by INITHiNK, which is an R&D consulting firm funded and supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

Application and Selection Procedure
Phase Procedure Remarks
1st Phase Kindly ensure that all required forms and supporting documents are properly submitted to the relevant domestic authority in accordance with its prescribed submission process.
2nd Phase The Ministry of Science and ICT will evaluate and finalize selections from among the scientists nominated by each economy.
3rd Phase Selected scientists will be required to complete the registration process for the training program via the official website. Website will open on April 10, 2025 (www.sipkorea2025.kr) and the details will be available only to selected participants.

Mentor-Mentee Group Project
  • The Mentor-Mentee Project is a collaborative endeavor in which a Korean Ph.D. researcher serves as a mentor, working with a group of trainees to jointly identify and refine a research topic. Structured as a group composed of one mentor and multiple mentees, the project facilitates the exchange of ideas on individual research interests and the discovery of potential areas for future collaboration.
